God And Ministry Are All Around

God And Ministry Are All Around

Hebrews 13:1-2 states, "Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing, some have unwittingly entertained angels." NKJV

The writer of Hebrew reminds us that brotherly love should continue or be an ongoing process.  The heart of Christ's teachings implies love for God and others.

Working at a retail store, I have come to appreciate the importance of good customer service. There is a lot of work to do, and customers ask questions and need help. However, this is the best time to calm down and faithfully show kindness.

Verse 2 reminds us of another truth. We do not know the people we come in contact with every day The passage implies that some have unknowingly entertained angels. Maybe that customer mentioned above is a millionaire who has had a bad day, and you say something kind to him. Later you become friends with him, and he helps your company stay in business and grow.  Showing kindness creates a good atmosphere for more meaningful and satisfying relationships and brings more of God's blessing into our lives. You obviously might not get a million dollars or the recognition you  and I deserve, but God notices and rewards acts of kindness. God even orders our steps so that we encounter the people He wants us to. Ministry and God are all around us, and how we treat people does matter!!

Sometimes it is easier to love a stranger than to love your family.  Because they know us, we let our guards down and say things we regret later.  Christian love starts at home.  Strangers only see what we want them to see. They do not know us, unless we let them in.  Both should be a part of Christian love and our Godly character.
